The Artist
What began as a curiosity quickly became a calling. After discovering kiln-formed glass over a decade ago, Julie Ancy immersed herself in the craft — experimenting with color, layering techniques, and the unpredictable beauty that comes from fusing glass at temperatures above 1,400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Her work spans a wide range of forms — from richly patterned platters and mosaic plates to sculptural bowls, wall panels, and one-of-a-kind art pieces. Each creation begins with hand-selected glass rods, sheets, and frit, carefully arranged and layered before entering the kiln, where heat transforms the composition into something entirely new.
Julie Ancy's pieces are known for their vibrant color palettes, intricate patterns, and the way they interact with light. Dichroic glass, iridescent finishes, and carefully controlled kiln schedules give each work a depth and luminosity that shifts depending on the angle and light source — no two viewings are ever quite the same.
Artist Statement
"I want each piece to feel like it's alive — like it's holding light inside it, waiting for you to notice. The kiln always has the final say, and that's what I love most. I set the stage, arrange the colors, layer the glass, and then I let the heat do what it does. Every piece is a collaboration between intention and surprise."

The Process
Every piece starts with choosing the right combination of glass — rods, sheets, frit, and dichroic elements selected for how their colors will interact under heat.
Pieces are fired at temperatures exceeding 1,400°F. The kiln schedule — how fast the temperature rises, holds, and cools — determines the final texture and form.
Julie's home studio in Texas is where the magic happens — organized shelves of colorful glass, dedicated workspace, and the kilns that bring each vision to life.
The Journey
Julie Ancy discovered fused glass the way many artists find their medium — by accident. A single introductory class sparked something that years of other creative pursuits hadn't quite reached. The immediacy of working with glass, the bold colors, and the thrill of opening the kiln to discover what the heat had created were unlike anything else.
Since then, she has developed a distinctive style that balances structure with spontaneity. Her mosaic work features meticulous pattern-building, while her organic pieces embrace the fluid, unpredictable nature of molten glass. Whether it's a striking geometric platter or a delicate dichroic bowl, each piece reflects Julie Ancy's belief that art should be both beautiful and functional — something you can live with, use, and enjoy every day.
Her work has been featured in local art shows and galleries across Texas, and she continues to push the boundaries of what's possible with kiln-formed glass from her home studio in Texas.
